1. Council Commitment to Inclusive Enterprise
The Entrepreneurship Development Council of India is firmly dedicated to ensuring that digital entrepreneurship tools, membership onboarding, and business directories are universally accessible to all individuals, including persons with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities, as well as founders in rural and bandwidth-constrained regions of India.
2. Accessibility Standards & Implemented Features
The portal adheres to the following accessibility standards:
- Color Contrast Compliance: All text elements achieve a contrast ratio exceeding the WCAG AA minimum threshold of 4.5:1 against their background (tested with Council Primary Navy
#0A224Cand body typography#323B47). - Visible Keyboard Focus Indicators: Interactive buttons, form inputs, and navigation links maintain explicit high-contrast focus rings (
:focus-visible) to support keyboard-only navigation. - Touch Target Geometry: Interactive controls, buttons, and mobile drawer links maintain a minimum tap target size of 44px by 44px.
- Responsive Flow & Zero Horizontal Scroll: Fluid responsive Flexbox layout across 4 breakpoints (Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Mobile) with strict suppression of horizontal overflow (
overflow-x: hidden). - Reduced Motion Support: Full compliance with user accessibility preferences via
@media (prefers-reduced-motion: reduce), disabling animated transitions and tilts. - Semantic HTML5 Landmarks: Structured use of
<header>,<nav>,<main>,<aside>, and<footer>tags for assistive screen reader navigation.
3. Assistive Technology Compatibility
The portal is tested against leading modern assistive tools including NVDA, JAWS, macOS VoiceOver, iOS VoiceOver, Android TalkBack, and standard browser zoom capabilities up to 200% without loss of layout cohesion.
